What is a Class Nine?
Class nine dangerous goods - are materials and substances that are not covered by other class eight substances. One of the big things this class encompasses is environmentally hazardous substances but, also covers materials transported at elevated temperatures, genetically modified organisms, micro-organisms, aviation regulated materials, and magnetized materials.
Some of the materials that are shipped as class nine are lithium ion batteries, air bag modules, and internal combustion engines.
Class Nine Divisions
Class nine dangerous goods do not have any divisions.
Class Nine Dangerous Good Label
There is one label for a class nine and one additional for marine pollutants. The class nine specific placard is white on the bottom half with a 9 in the bottom corner and vertically striped black and white on the top. The marine pollutant placard is a dead fish near a dead tree in what I assume is oil, I call this one the dead fish placard.
